Getting To Know Team #BossWomxn: Mae

I am the Team Captain of #BossWomxn. This virtual relay hosted by Run 4 All Women will take place September 21st - 27th, 2020, and cover the 680 miles from Atlanta to Washington, DC. This relay benefits Black Voters Matter, which is an organization that is dedicated to increasing power in marginalized, predominantly Black communities. I will be running to remind people they have power!! I want to utilize our amazing running community to educate and raise awareness for voter registration. I will be highlighting some of the bad ass womxn on my team and learning some fun facts on how they recover in between running, walking, hiking, cycling, etc. Recovery is a key ingredient to self care. It's important to me that everyone on my team practices it!

My fourth feature will be Mae.

Morgan: What is your current workout routine?

Mae: Before all the fires here on the west coast, my mornings always start with a run. At least 5k about 5-6x a week followed by strength training. I love moving my body early in the mornings before I get started with work. I find that I'm more focused and productive throughout the day when I get it done in the morning.

M: Must have food post run?

M: A nice BURGER! Honestly, I love In n Out, but Shake Shack's Shack Stack with crisp-fried portobello mushroom stuffed with melted cheeeeese. That's the one.

M: Your ideal pizza slice after a long run?

M: My ideal pizza would be a stuffed crust white pizza! Who doesn't love carbs right!

M: Your ideal coffee order after a morning run/walk?

M: I am a mama who does not drink coffee. But really, I am not much of a coffee person. I'll drink one every now and then but I don't think I have an ideal coffee order. I'm that person who orders a Caramel Macchiato from Starbucks and never finishes. Would much rather go for a nice juice or smoothie after a run or walk.

M: Do you use any tools for recovery? (Foam roll, cbd, etc?)

M: I use a Hypervolt, foam roller, and a softball. Rolling my legs around a softball really does it for me. Gets spots that I have a really hard time getting to. 

M: What does your ideal “lazy Sunday” entail?

M: What is a lazy Sunday with a toddler even? :) But an ideal lazy sunday would look like sleeping in with Zoe and having breakfast for lunch!
