Running 100 miles for Running for a Better Oakland
I ran 125+ miles in January and February.. and I'm doing it again for March!
I will be participating in The Bay Race Three Bridge Challenge, a virtual race that challenges you to go 100 miles on a loop across the Golden Gate, San Mateo, Richmond/San Rafael Bridge in the SF Bay Area. I will be running 100 miles between 02/14/21- 04/15/21.
Running for a Better Oakland (RBO) is a non-profit organization that encourages Kindergarten-12th grade Oakland students to develop healthy lifestyles through running. By providing training and encouragement, RBO helps students build confidence and set goals, giving them tools for achievement and hard work they can draw on in all areas of their lives.
RBO high school seniors will be participating in the Three Bridge Challenge too! Seniors are normally required to run the Oakland Half Marathon to be eligible for one of RBO's senior scholarships, but since we're all virtual this year, our seniors will be participating in the Three Bridge Challenge instead.
I grew up in the Bay Area and taught health classes in Oakland when I was in college, so this program means a lot to me. As a running coach, and as a volunteer for RBO, I encourage all parents of young kids to give sports a try in their formative years. We truly learn so much about ourselves and the capabilities of our bodies. It creates self esteem, learning to compete and learning how hard you have to work in order to achieve your goals.
RBO aims to ensure that program participants reflect the diverse community of Oakland and to remove financial barriers for students’ participation. Your donation will support our efforts to meet these goals. RBO mentors not only help kids achieve running goals, it often leads to them believing that they can achieve other worthy goals as well.

I have a goal of $200. Anything helps! I appreciate it all so much.
